Meet Lacy Anderson- Owner of UP Family Doula
MEET THE HEART & SOUL BEHIND UP FAMILY DOULA CARE
Hey there, I'm Lacy Anderson!
If you’re here, chances are you’re standing at the beginning of a big life change. Pregnancy, birth, postpartum - these seasons of life are powerful just as powerful as they are tender. I love helping Marquette parents navigate every step of the journey with confidence, compassionate support, and a touch of humor.
I didn’t always know I wanted to be a doula. Until suddenly… I did. During my second pregnancy, I learned what a doula actually does. I turned to my husband and said, “This is exactly what I want to do with my life.” And looking back, it made complete sense. Becoming a Doula felt like a natural expression of who I am - supporting families with love, presence, and encouragement.
After working together families often tell me the same things: that I was exactly what they needed, that I helped them feel calm when everything felt overwhelming, and that I explained things in a way that finally made sense. I am known for reading the room and responding with care, for being a steady presence in stressful moments, for helping families feel heard within the medical system, and for offering education without pressure or fear.
I am proud to be a M.W.D.
"Mom, Wife, Doula!"
I live in Marquette County, and the Upper Peninsula has always been home. The lakes, the woods, and the sense of community captured my heart long ago, and this is where I knew I wanted to put down roots.
My husband and I have three energetic and wonderful kids: Caleb, Ariella, and Winslow. In the warmer months, you’ll usually find us camping, fishing (my husband and I get a little competitive over who catches the most fish!), or exploring the outdoors. Inside, I love a good audiobook or hosting friends and family for a meal and game night.
Despite the fact that I don’t enjoy coffee or chocolate, I always have enough energy to chase toddlers, answer late night questions, and support families as their babies arrive on their own timelines.
As a family, we spend a lot of time learning - especially as we homeschool our children. Quality family time is incredibly important to me - whether it’s with my own family or helping other families create that same time and connection. Being a Doula allows me to support families in a way that honors those moments, helping them feel confident, seen, and supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Here are some questions our doula team is frequently asked during a meet and greet call.

Evidence-based care is important, but it’s only one part of the story. I also honor the wisdom that’s been carried through generations and the knowledge lies within our bodies and our hearts. True care, to me, means blending science with intuition, knowledge with experience, and always trusting each woman’s feminine wisdom to make the choices that feel right for her and her family.

I’m a triple Certified Birth Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, 4th Trimester Fitness Instructor, and Spinning Babies Provider. I’m also a Registered Kangaroula and a Certified Passenger Safety Technician Proxy. My continuing education includes specialized trainings such as Survivor Moms Companion, lactation support, and CPR.
I have a deep passion for learning, and my trainings help me provide care that’s evidence-based, compassionate, and tailored to each family’s unique needs.

The name felt right because it reflects everything I value most, where I come from and what matters most to me. “UP” stands for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the place I’m proud to call home and serve. “Family” represents my heart. I have a deep love for family, my own and the ones I walk beside through this work. That love is the foundation of everything I do, guiding the way I support, connect, and care for each parent and baby I meet.
Every heartbeat, every tiny movement, every new life—each is a reminder of how fearfully and wonderfully we are created. It’s a joy to celebrate this miracle with the families I serve.
