Supporting Primal Health: Natural, Medicated & Cesarean Births

A couple holds newborn baby at Marquette newborn photoshoot.

Unmedicated or Medicated: Both can be gentle.

When it comes to birth, there’s no single “right way” — every family and every baby is different. Many parents dream of an unmedicated birth — and for some, this can help protect the baby’s smooth transition and primal health. But for others, pain relief or interventions are necessary — and that’s okay, too.

What matters most is knowing you can still protect your baby’s gentle start, no matter what your birth looks like.

As your Doula, we can discuss how different medications might affect your baby’s alertness or early feeding and how you can balance it with extra closeness, patience, and calm surroundings. Every birth path deserves gentle, informed support.

What About Cesarean Births?

A Cesarean birth brings unique needs for your baby’s gentle start — but that start is still absolutely possible.

In a Cesarean, the room is often cooler, brighter, and busier. Babies born by C-section sometimes need help staying warm and calm and may have extra mucus or fluid to clear.

As your Kangaroula, I help you advocate and protect those precious first hours by: ✔️ Supporting skin-to-skin in the OR or recovery room whenever possible ✔️ Helping adjust lights and noise for a calmer space in a safe manner ✔️ Keeping baby warm and close, with extra blankets or your partner’s support if needed

✔️ Supporting early feeding and bonding when you’re ready

If separation happens for medical reasons, As your Doula and Kangaroula I try to reconnect, re-regulate and restore closeness as soon as possible.
